Who Is Chris Rodriguez?
Christopher Rodriguez Jr. is an American football running back for the Washington Commanders of the National Football League. He played college football at Kentucky, finishing second in school history in career rushing touchdowns and third in rushing yards before being selected by the Commanders in the sixth round of the 2023 NFL Draft.

Rookie running back Chris Rodriguez was a favorite of the Commanders' new offensive coordinator Eric Bieniemy.
Bieniemy reportedly had a "big say" in the selection of Rodriguez in the sixth round of the 2023 NFL Draft. Rodriguez was a five-year player for Kentucky and broke out in 2021 with a 225/1,379/9 line before failing to reach those marks as a senior in 2022. With good size (5'11/224) and an NFL run style, he profiles well to the next level though wasn't a prolific receiving talent in his time with the Wildcats. Backup runner Antonio Gibson is a free agent in 2024 and starter Brian Robinson, while productive, left something to be desired. Chris Rodriguez is unranked on DLF's running back rankings but could be a sneaky addition in deep-roster dynasty formats.

The Washington Commanders drafted Kentucky running back Chris Rodriguez in the sixth round of the NFL Draft.
Rodriguez is a two-down thumper and fell all the way down to the sixth round before being scooped up by the Commanders. He won't be guaranteed a roster spot with this kind of draft capital but this isn't the worst spot for Rodriguez to land. He'll likely compete with Jaret Patterson and Jonathan Williams for a roster spot behind Brian Robinson and Antonio Gibson. Rodriguez is a late round flier in rookie drafts but not one without some level of intrigue.
