For many fantasy football managers, the period following the Super Bowl is a chance to relax, reflect, and disconnect from the rollercoaster which is a fantasy football season. For dynasty managers, there may be no busier time. In fact, some say there is no off-season. It is a mantra I have seen somewhere. I cannot quite put my finger on it.
For devy managers? Clear your schedule, because the work starts now. The devy community now has to juggle two Signing Days and a transfer portal which creates unceasing player movement. It is both fun and impossible to manage, yet we persevere. Below are the top devy talents in the land, contained within an infallible list that requires no criticism.
65. Jaydn Ott, RB California (2025 Draft-Eligible)
Profile: Billed as a complete back out of California’s Norco High School, Ott gave his evaluators an assist by proving they were genuine soothsayers. Ott ran for 897 yards and added 321 yards through the air, quickly asserting himself as one of the Pac-12’s best backs. His signature moment was a complete evisceration of the Arizona Wildcats, a game in which he ran for 274 yards and three scores.
Ott brings a physical element to the position despite checking in at just over 200 pounds and wastes little time in the backfield, proving decisive as he sashays through traffic. He is a comfortable receiver who often bailed out a struggling offense by fighting for yards after the catch. Team context is incredibly important when evaluating Ott. The Golden Bears ranked 89th in the nation in offense, struggling to consistently move the football despite some standout performances from skill position players. He became a focus of the defense as a true freshman and still performed at a high level, an excellent sign for his future prospects in Berkeley.
2023 Outlook: Cal may have to rely even more heavily on Ott in 2023 following the transfer of J. Michael Sturdivant, perhaps Cal’s most important offensive player. Heavy defensive fronts can be expected, and Cal’s offensive line has failed to gel into a top-tier unit. It will be tough sledding for Ott, though he should cruise past his 216 touches from 2022 as the focal point of the offensive attack.
