I’d rather have Aaron Rodgers as a few more good years out-weighs no good years. I’m just not sold on Justin Fields and the fact he went to the Bears makes it even tougher to trust he will ever have good numbers/fantasy relevance.
I agree with Buckbeast here. The first sentence is exactly how I would describe my feelings. And this might be the Exhibit 1A case of “How Long Is Dynasty”? Sure, it’s an easy slam-dunk to take Fields over Rodgers just simply based on age; I mean there is a whole 15-year difference. The case for Fields from a dynasty perspective is that he is the guy I want 5, 7, 8 years down the road, the easy every-week start. So say in a couple of years, despite the regime change in Chicago (a hopefully more knowledgeable offensive group), Fields hasn’t proven he will elevate to the level one would expect from a 1st round, top-15 overall pick. During those couple of years while waiting for Fields to show what he can do, you could have had, instead, a back-to-back league MVP who has already shown what he can do and from the looks of it, doesn’t appear to be slowing down at all. On top of that, your perspective and analysis of Fields would be different after those two years and you would have to re-calculate and assess Fields’ value isn’t as high as it once was and in the process lost those couple three years you could have gotten out of Rodgers.
