Off the A-chain - Devon Achane, RB Texas A&M

Achane has been one of the fastest athletes in college football over the last three seasons. Running a 10.12 second 100-meter dash, Achane’s speed has translated to college football as one of the most efficient weapons in college football in the last two seasons. He had a 8.5 yards per carry and 19.4 yards per catch average on low volume as a freshman. His volume increased as a sophomore but the efficiency did not suffer that much as he maintained a 7.0 yards per carry average on 130 carries and 10.9 yards per catch on 24 receptions.

He had a “slow” start to the season by the speedster's standards with only 4.3 yards per carry, averaging just 65 rushing yards in the Aggies' first three games. He turned it on in last week's game as Arkansas could not catch up. He ran for 159 yards on 19 carries with a touchdown. From an NFL and devy perspective, the biggest concern will always be his size at 5’9, 185 pounds, and I wouldn’t be surprised if he weighs in smaller at the NFL Combine.

Achane has had enough success in college football to show he is more than just a track star playing football, he’s a football player with track star speed. I think this should lead to him being a day two NFL draft pick, so for any devy managers with concerns that his size makes him a day three pick, that provides a buying opportunity.
