Each week throughout the season, I’ll cover at least two rookies in the Rookie Report Card and try to always include the biggest performers from that particular week. On top of reviewing my expectations for each player coming into the league and how well he’s lived up to those expectations at the NFL level to this point, I’ll grade the player in three categories. Those categories are performance to date, rookie season potential and long-term upside.
The series rolls along as we shine a light on a pair of week 15 standouts, Brian Robinson and Rashid Shaheed.
Brian Robinson, RB WAS
Week 15 Stats: 21 carries, 96 yards, two receptions, 15 receiving yards (two targets)
Robinson took a unique path to the NFL that included going from being a highly sought-after recruit to backing up some of the best running backs to play college football over the last handful of years and then finally getting his opportunity as a senior in 2021.
Robinson nearly carried the ball as many times as a senior (271) as he did in the previous four years combined (274) with the Crimson Tide. Handling 306 touches and piling u[p 3,150 yards from scrimmage while scoring 16 touchdowns, he proved to be a punishing runner between the tackle with the ability to stay on his feet through contact and get the tough yards in third and short as well as goal line situations.
